In our first course in Unreal Engine, we had an assignment to create three different shaders:Â
A shader that plays with Time, Space and Environmental conditions.
An Interactive shader that is influenced by player input.
A post-process shader that alters the environment in a useful way.
I decided to make the following:
A snow shader that melts away from the increasing heat radius of the campfire.
An outliner of the campfire to help players know what to interact with. The outline is shown at a certain distance and once the campfire has been activated, the outline disappears.
An orb that starts to glow when you get closer to it.
My shaders can be viewed in the video linked below.
For one of the courses at Hyper Island, we were assigned a task to make a portfolio in an interesting way. I decided to gamify my portfolio into something that involved creativity and exploration. In this game, you play as me, on my way to a job interview. A gust of wind caught my portfolio and it spread out in a nearby forest. You run around and collect pieces of the portfolio and business cards, which unlocks the portfolio pieces in the briefcase. There are easter eggs placed around the map, such as achievements, a game version of one of the art projects we displayed and a secret meeting with the man in the clouds. The art was drawn by me in Photoshop and the game was created in Unreal Engine 4.
